OWC is making a Mac Pro PCI Express SSD aren't they? I haven't heard about it in what seems like a few months.
OWC, OCZ and FusionIO all said they are working on a fully Mac supported PCIe SSD. However, no one has heard any news yet and apparently they all took the information off their websites.
Doesn't seem to happen any time soon, although I do see the necessity for it as the current SSDs already saturate the 6Gb/s SATA port. Given the trend of SSD development, single drives might be capable of 1GB/s sequential speeds in two years (give or take). I highly doubt that we'll see a 12Gb/s SATA port by then.

I am trying verify if data recovery is possible on a customers Macbook Air a1304 hard drive. Since Apple decided to use that 1.8" drive I am trying to find an adapter that will work in a desktop SATA or IDE that isn't some ridiculous price. The Air had water spilled on it so it will not turn on nor do I have another air to test it in.
From what I can find the Air uses a 1.8" ZIF drive. Would this ZIF CE 1.8 Microdrive to 3.5 40pin adapte (http://www.amazon.com/ZIF-1-8-Micro-Drive-Adapter/dp/B004AXDA82)r work. Perhaps this Toshiba 1.8 ZIF to 2.5 IDE (http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-1-8-Zif-2-5-Connector/dp/B0018S9RQG) (I have an external enclosure that works with the 2.5 IDE). I also found this external USB enclosure (http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Enclosure-1-8-inch-Toshiba-Connector/dp/B0037FR27E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1302904126&sr=8-2). There is even this uber cheap adapter for 1.8 zif to 2.5 IDE (http://www.amazon.com/ZIF-1-8-Inch-Toshiba-Adapter/dp/B004AA5WRW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1302904126&sr=8-7).
So will any or all of these work with the Macbook Air a1304's internal hard drive?

Sorry, if this thread seems repetitive with the other case threads out there, but I thought my question deserved a separate thread because I am asking specifically about SwitchEasy cases.
I have just ordered a Verizon iPhone 4 and am trying to choose between the SwitchEasy CapsuleRebel, TRIM, and Vulcan cases:
CapsuleRebel: http://www.switcheasy.com/products/CapsuleRebel_iPhone4/CapsuleRebel_iPhone4.php
TRIM: http://www.switcheasy.com/products/TRIM/TRIM.php
Vulcan: http://www.switcheasy.com/products/Vulcan_iPhone4/
I have a RebelTouch for my 2nd generation iPod Touch and I like it a log, except that it doesn't fit perfectly. It protects my iPod, which I drop all the time. I expect that I will drop my iPhone and so will need to have it adequately protected, especially because it has glass on both the front and the back.
Unfortunately SwitchEasy does not provide dimensions, but I would like it to be as thin as possible while still fully protecting the phone.
Does anyone have experience with any of these cases and have any suggestions?
I know that the volume buttons are in a slightly different location than the AT&T iPhone and so am wondering how this works with the cases, as they are designed for both phones. Do the cases line up exactly as they should?
Also, if it is easy to take on and off without damaging the phone or the case that is a plus as I plan to run with my iPhone and will probably need to move it between the case and a running armband.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

well i looked around the f@h website a bit, and found instructions for running the windows client through wine on linux. they are here: http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=158848#p158848
so i figured i'd try to see if that could happen for osx.
i installed winebottler from http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/,
the os x cuda toolkit from http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cuda_3_2_downloads.html
then the gpu3 folding client from http://www.stanford.edu/~friedrim/.Folding@home-Win32-GPU_Vista-631.zip
ran the client in wine but i keep getting "Gpu species not recognized." errors from the folding client. i see theres a new version of the client available, i'll try that. thinking either that or the os x nvidia drivers are enough different from the windows ones that the client can't access it properly. this is on a 2009 mp with the gt120 which is fermi i think. tried both fermi and non- in the client but both gave that error. play around with it and see maybe what you all find:)
EDIT 1: I JUST TRIED THE NEWEST VERSION OF THE CLIENT, 6.40r1 AND IT NOW APPEARS TO DETECT THE GRAPHICS CARD! it sees the gt120 as Gpu type=3 species=20. the client downloads the core then it crashes when it tries to run with Calling '.\FahCore_15.exe -dir work/ -suffix 01 -nice 19 -checkpoint 15 -verbose -lifeline 63 -version 641'
[22:17:18] CoreStatus = C0000135 (-1073741515)
[22:17:18] Client-core communications error: ERROR 0xc0000135
[22:17:18] This is a sign of more serious problems, shutting down.
will continue to try to get this to work :)
EDIT 2: I missed the part to install some wrappers. going to see if that helps. apparently from http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=16783 someone said gpu2 ran on os x so maybe it's possible

Good ploy on their part to get a cheap emac.
Good luck with HP. Not a bad company's computer to have if you have to have a non-apple, but it still runs windows.

Hi,
I wrote a simple server application in C. This server do nothing except print the received message, then exit. Here is the code
int listenfd,connfd,n;
struct sockaddr_in servaddr,cliaddr;
socklen_t clilen;
char *mesg = (char*) malloc(1000*sizeof(char));
listenfd=socket(PF_INET,SOCK_STREAM,0);
bzero(&servaddr,sizeof(servaddr));
servaddr.sin_family = AF_INET;
servaddr.sin_addr.s_addr = INADDR_ANY;
servaddr.sin_port=htons(20600);
bind(listenfd,(struct sockaddr *)&servaddr,sizeof(servaddr));
listen(listenfd,5);
clilen=sizeof(cliaddr);

n = (int) recvfrom(connfd,mesg,1000,0,(struct sockaddr *)&cliaddr,&clilen);
sendto(connfd,mesg,n,0,(struct sockaddr *)&cliaddr,sizeof(cliaddr));

mesg[n] = 0;

^I'll be sure to download those apps if I get the Mac.
I just noticed that it probably won't come with iMac G4 speakers. :( Does anyone know where I can get a set? I probably could ask here, and I'm willing to pay for them, too. However, if the internal speaker is good (is it?), then I won't worry about the speakers.
